My Process

Here is an example of the process it takes to create my paintings!

Step 1

First, I start by sketching my scene on my canvas using a projection of the picture or by using carbon transfer paper to trace the image.

Step 2

Then, I start by applying the base layer of thick paints to enhance the background and make a base for my more detailed brushstrokes. I use different colors to represent the different colors of light in the image. I like to use very bold brushtrokes to amplify the impressionistic, dreamy theme that my painting holds.

Step 3

I then go in with a smaller oil brush and use small brushstrokes to create more detail in the background. I still use the visivle brushstroke element so that the painting is more imaginative, therefore giving the onlooker a sense of childlike wonder.

Step 4

Finally, I start on the small people by blocking out their skin with bold colors in hues of purple, blue, pink, red, and yellow. Afterwards, while the paint is still wet, I will take a dry brush and blend the colors togrther to make a more skin-like effect. Finally, I go in and do the smaller details such as the furniture and the clothes. Then, I am finished with my painting!
