About
Hello, my name is Lilly Holliday and I am apart of the AP Art and Design Class at Harpeth Hall. My artwork focuses on capturing the simplicity and innocence of childhood, often through moments of quiet contemplation that evoke nostalgia. I aim to portray children in a state of wonder and curiosity, using their expressions and body language to tell a story. My investigation has been guided by questions such as, "What do I want to convey through the expressions and body language of the children?" and "How can I use the setting to enhance the feeling of nostalgia and innocence?" These questions drive my exploration of color, texture, and composition to create scenes that feel intimate and emotionally resonant. I experiment with color palettes and textures to evoke warmth and vulnerability while enhancing the emotional connection between the figures and their environment. The process of continuous practice, experimentation, and revision helps me refine my approach to ensure each scene conveys the desired mood. Moving forward, I plan to explore different perspectives and symbolic elements to deepen the emotional impact of my work. Ultimately, I seek to create art that invites the viewer to reflect on the innocence and beauty of childhood.
